Seminar Summary:
Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) was formed in 1950 to serve rural communities in western Riverside County.  Over the past seven decades, the communities that EMWD serves, extending over 550 square miles from Moreno Valley to Temecula, and from San Jacinto and Hemet to Mead Valley, have developed and transformed.   EMWD’s retail and wholesale services encompassing water, wastewater, and recycled water services have expanded and diversified in order to meet water supply challenges and regulatory requirements.  EMWD maintains a diverse water supply portfolio including imported water supply from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, local water filtration plants, brackish groundwater desalination facilities, groundwater recharge and extraction facilities, and a nationally recognized recycled water program.   As western Riverside County continues to develop and its population increases, EMWD has developed a strategic plan to meet the long-term water supply challenges for our region including significant investments in local water resources.  This presentation will provide an overview of EMWD and a prospective of initiatives and programs that support water supply sustainability and resiliency.
